Nice setup! I have the same kind of panels (4 siemens 55w) on a rack. They will last a long time. Got them on EBAY for about $210-230.00 each. Yeah converting to AC from DC sucks power from those batterys. Its cloudy where I live so I just run mostly when the sun is out full. Are fuses a substitute for grounding the (-) side?
Was the trimetric hard to set up?
Excellent video. What kind of video camera and software did you use to tape and edit this? How do you ground your system? Thanks.
why does he have pink sunglass?
Great Vid, Kind of manic delivery, Highly enjoyable!! I would’ve put money on your running a hydroponic system somewhere, Must be the hat !!
what size is the wire that you use before the 6 gauge wire.
I need to know how many relays I should get in my charge controler because I am getting ready to buy one and also what does the relay do. I like the colman air charger controlers and I am thinking about get the one that has four relays with red leds to show the voltage of the batterys. I hope to get a lot of pannels in the future and wind generators. How many relays do I need and what do they do. Also do I put the power disconnect before the charge controller or after like you did?
Hey, do you have your inverter earthed.
If you don’t, then your 110/240v side of this set-up will not have an earth connection.
The inverter takes + and – from your battery bank, but should also be earthed to ground from a pin/grommet on the inverter…else a point on it’’s casing.
I missed apoint dont equalize gel cells! Im not trying to pic on anyone just want to save your batteries only equalize flooded lead acid batteries
great video if those batteries are AGMs do not equalize them it will kill them. Again good math great video check out my bad videos CHEERS WINDY NC
Elshendersaevus ,I bought a small 45 watt solar panel kit from harbor freight for $200… It doesn’t compare to what Riche has, but its good to start off and learn about solar. I’ve been running mine for about 6 months and its working good, but I’m ready to upgrade to some bigger panels and charge controllers and increasing my battery bank.
Riche, I appreciate the math conversions, it makes alot more sense.. awesome job on the setup…
Very nice Richee… I was glad to see you worked out your math. I am very impressed by the system you have setup. You may want to add some 6v-deep cycle batteries. As they will last longer, much longer life span! Feel free to check out my home system. I will have an update again soon. I am making it neater and safer to operate. Hi from sunny FL
excellent job on the work but it’s even better that you shared. thanks. living on an island with some of the most expensive electricity in the world….. this is good stuff. (its not legal to have a system though, but i’m gonna try to put it up anyway).
Well, Frys electronics sells these same panels for $500 each. Lets say I bought them there, so that ends up being $3000 just for the panels alone. The 330 watts I make only ends up saving me about 9 cents a day (I measured that I use 1KwH/day and my electric rate is 9cents per KwH). So if my math is correct, I’ll get a return in money in 91 years! (But that’s not what I paid for my panels)
Wow, very cool man. I live in Ohio where we hardly get any sun, so I never see any solar powered houses. Just curious though, how much does it cost to set something like this up? And about how long does it take for the solar panels to recoup their costs?
