Gunter Pauli, The power of system design

Gunter Pauli WISDOM FOR THE FUTURE The wisdom of the past is not the wisdom of today. Time has come to create the wisdom for the future that brings real sustainability forever. If we only teach our children what we know they will only do as badly as we do. We need to create that space with a degree of freedom to imagine new pathways towards sustainability. System design is one of new pathways.

@Chriswaterguy The plants will actually break down the emissions into nutrients that they can use to create more mass. The food that we end up eating is perfectly safe by the means of our own nutrient demands. I’d think that pesticides are much worse by comparison.

I applaud Mr. Pauli for offering positive solutions for the future. There are too many people who just sit around and criticize everybody else’s ideas because they have none of their own.

This is an example of how a good presentation can hide the fact there is a fundamental flaw in Pauli´s idea, spirulina algae is not the panacea he talks about.

Spirulina fad so old that bottles of spirulina just collect dust in herbal stores.

But hey!, he is doing a good job in convincing institutions to get their money

demand would need to increase by 500 times for the ratio to become 1 to 1.5 million. unfeasible.

  6. greenchalmers says:

I came with this exact same one month ago! Except on a smaller plot in the middle of the desert. It would generate revenue, and a free energy policy. This idiot is talking about algae for crying out loud? Does oil have a top limit?

He seems like a character from an Ayn Rand meets James Bondesque characters.

  8. precycled says:

Pauli is on the right track but we need to think bigger. What he’s doing is pilot projects which hint at the potential of the megaproject of helping all business to work this way. All major problems should be turned into opportunities and all wastes into resources. This is necessary to deal with climate change and other global problems at sufficient scale and speed. It’s also much easier than trying to tackle problems a bit at a time. blindspot org uk

  9. Chriswaterguy says:

Some good ideas… but why does he multiply 500 by 3000, and what does the answer mean? And does he think he’ll be allowed to make food from power plant emissions and give it to poor kids?

This video is WONDERFUL! I’ve been following Gunther for several years, when he accompanied Paolo Lugari to talk about Gaviotas in Colorado and New Mexico. My friend and I are planning another Sust. Solutions Salon in the Bay area this April, and I think we will show this video, thank you!!

  11. BanquetBelch says:

Bravo! That is the most positive and encouraging success story I’ve heard in decades.
