Do you think everyone should do there best to recycle?

I do, if everyone would recycle we could cut back on the waste of the land and other resources.

    There should be THEIR

thats what I’m trying to do 0_o

Yes Yes Yes. Also, corn starch [?] packaging products are really cheaper and more ecological to produce and break down quicker than current packaging, we ought to be getting manufacturers using it globally. It probably makes up most of landfill. Look for other ways of using your defunct stuff – loved reading of CDs being used at Dragons’ scales, wish I could sculpt.

The least people should do ,is compost their organic wastes ,this is responsible for 70% of landfill contamination, and it is the easiest to accommodate as well as ending up with some nice compost,
for the rest we should classify our trash so that it can easily be recycled or at least more easily disposed of .

    COMPOSTING
First of all we have to classify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plastic bin with a lid ,

the permanent stuff like glass plastics ,can go to the landfill or we make a hole of a few square meters and make our own landfill ,every so often cover with sand and compact it .
As long as the organics are gone the production of harmful bacteria is next to none ,

Only things like batteries are very bad in the soil.

Don`t burn it ,that is very bad for the air .

if you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid ,

and add a bit of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should really stir or move the stuff at times to aerate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist

there are special compost bins you can get for apartments ,best to keep on the balcony where there is airflow.

    ——————————…
    a general note on compost

    bones,tree trunks,cardboard,egg… clothes(if they are organic),poop,leaves,kitchen waste,food scraps,newspaper,
    kitty litter

All can be put on the compost heap

as long as you seal it with a covering of leaves .or put a piece of plastic on top ,
keep it moist and in the shade ,it will then get hot enough to kill all parasites

the worms will develop, and take care of everything ,the moisture helps decomposition

the plastic keeps in the moisture and protects the worms from predators .like chickens ,birds armadillos, and even dogs .i have seen going in to eat my worm culture

you could add a bit of lime now and again
to make the process more potent

    HOW
make the compost in a shallow hole ,so that it retains more humidity,
about 2 square meters is good ,and have it under a tree or put a little roof over i t,which does not have to be water proof ,so a palm thatch is enough,

and make sure the garden sprinkler gets there or spray some water on it ,at least once a week, don`t have it water logged or the worms will drown or leave

    RECYCLING
Cardboard is also acceptable for recycling

so is glass if you classify it in colors, and
    aluminum cans

    MULCHING
we cover the ground of our vegetable plot ,with a thick layer of organic material like leaves ,saw dust ,news paper .,the thicker the better the composting process will turn it in to black topsoil

Which is the same principal as composting but it includes the whole garden surface instead of in only the compost heap

The top part of the soil where the topsoil is being produced houses a world or micro biotic life.
The humidity is preserved underneath and promotes the development of worms(there exists no better compost than their excrements)and a variety of micro biotic life which together with the mulch produce more topsoil.

the mulch also keeps the ground temperature even and guards against the impact of the rain ,which would other wise brings salt to the surface if on unprotected land

Mulch also prevents the soil from drying out because of the sun and, lay it open to wind erosion.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON MULCHING READ

yes , but some Man-made products cannot be re-cycled due to their chemical comosition at “manufacture” i.e…foam coffee cups , poly-urethane and ehylene based plastics etc. , etc. , so these must go into land-fill! but the benefit of more people getting into re-cycling , will be a cut back on the dependence that we have , right now , on ALL natural resources

  6. Kendra B says:

    Duh.

  7. Bobbie F says:

Sure, do it. I do. However it is way too late for such things as recycling.

We are at the brink – within 4 years it will be all over.

See the documentary – What a Way to Go- Life at the End of Empire. It took us 10,000 years to get to this horrid place and we cannot fix it now.

  8. cdjack says:

Oh yes. Everyone should do that. Then I won’t have to. But thanks a lot.

  9. hevans1944 says:

Eventually, everything does recycle. The Earth is a closed system with a steady energy input from the Sun and a steady loss of energy radiated into outer space by its temperature. The atmosphere moderates the process by providing an insulating blanket, but in the end all the energy we receive from the Sun is radiated back out into space.

Over the long term oraganisms live and die and are recycled back into their molecular constituents, which is where the natural gas, oil, and coal we “consume” today came from millions of years ago. It does seem unwise to consume this energy so prolifically over such a short time span (compared to how long it took to store it in the ground), but nuclear power will soon take over as fossil fuels are depleted.

As for inantimate stuff, like plastics and aluminum foil and automobile tires and car parts… it makes little difference whether we recycle these things or not. Given a plentiful supply of energy, anything can be transformed from one state to another (more desirable) state. It takes a lot of electrical energy to make a gram of pure aluminum from bauxite ore, and considerably less energy to gather a gram of discarded aluminum cans or foil wrap. However, the refined ore is “ready to use” to make cans, foil, or whatever. The recycled materials must be cleaned, sorted, crushed, assayed, melted and formed into ingots before they can be used. Is there any saving in that? Maybe. Depends on the cost of energy and the availability of raw materials.

Many years ago, right after World War II ended, the United States had a steel-recycling economy based on automobiles. A high percentage of the “ore” refined in steel mills came from crushed, rusted-out, automobiles. The remainder came from mines located near Great Lakes shipping docks. The drivers for this “recycling” economy were cheap coal to run the mills, cheap scrap in the form of automobiles, cheap ore to supplement the automobile scrap, and cheap shipping via ship, barge, and rail for everything.

It all vanished in a period of less than twenty years. Oh, we still make steel, and automobiles, and mine ore and coal, but the recycle part of the equation is pretty much gone. Most of our steel is imported now, most of the coal is used to make electricity. Has the economy improved as a result of these changes? I think it has.

Bottom line is: recycling is good if you can afford it.

  10. hamsterstar9 says:

Most definately. We should recycle and get others to recycle.

  11. Pinky says:

    Sure.

  12. doggies says:

why can’t people it would help so much and it is not a lot of work

  13. Tripod T says:

Of course they should. Everyone produces waste every day. The dumps where it eventually ends up is not a bottomless pit. If we don’t do what we can to recycle our resources and reuse what can be reused then sooner or later we’ll end up burying all of our land with trash. That may seem like a long time away, but if we don’t recycle now, that time will get shorter and shorter.

  14. Mary Moon says:

yes I do, I think big companies like walmart should provide a place for people to recyle their plastic bags

  15. Charlie says:

Yes. The problem is that it is not cost effective (and it takes a tremendous amount of energy) to deal with many recycled materials. Most people are unaware that the bulk of your recycled materials are dumped in the landfill.
I was a production supervisor at a recycling facility for 4 years.
    Sad, but true.

  16. Shamus O'Larry says:

I don’t think it would hurt, but I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary either.

  17. gemini 6 says:

    I sure do.

  18. cthulau says:

Omg yes…it’s what could someday save the world. Recycling cuts down on sooooooo many industrial processes. Yes it doesn’t help guys like oil companies, bc then we need less of their products, but just think of how many trees and other natural resources you save just by recycling. It takes less industry to recycle than to produce, so just look at it that way. And think of all those landfills with plastics and paper that are polluting our atmosphere. I could go on forever, but yes EVERYONE SHOULD RECYCLE!!!

  19. thesacriliciouspirate says:

Of course people should recycle. It’s not hard, and if the majority of the world continues to not recycle, conditions here are only gonna start to suck more.

  20. SK says:

Yes, everyone should recycle. Even if everyone does a little bit, it still means a lot.

  21. ....... says:

    Yes they should.
But it can be hard for other people to remember to.
You have to look at both sides of the argument.

  22. chee says:

yeah i sure do think so

  23. SumMeR says:

i think ppl should i dont as much as i should but i want to try and start doing more

  24. ashley r says:

    Yes. I try my hardest.

Although, I get a lot of slack for it. I think a lot of people are convinced that recycling doesn’t necessarily do anything because we don’t know for certain that the stuff we “recycle” is actually being recycled.

But, whatever! I say keep doing it!

  25. grendel1213 says:

    Recycling can go screw.

  26. Hindu says:

    Duh

  27. dezzy B says:

Yes because recycling helps the world go round. And other countries pay for our scrap paper and what not.

  28. Nazni84 says:

    Absolutely.

  29. Miss De Vill says:

    Wouldn’t hurt to try.

  30. Red-line says:

    of course!
geez, why the question, its a no duh
    it would help a LOT
