They should outsource all that maintenance to private companies and eliminate the entire MTA.
(Then the state will save some real money.)
I have climbed the TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE at least 5-6 times. It will ALWAYS be TRIBOROUGH BRIDGE!
Great video!
Excellent video I’m at the VNB and we did the same thing! I agree it will always be the Triborough bridge.
People, we do a great job out there on the bridges and tunnels and it’s a totally thankless job performed by a small group of dedicated professionals in all weather and conditions.
BEARCREME you are a blithering idiot. The sate does not fund maintenance or the bridges in any way. WE FUND THEM.Outsourcing only drives up costs so if you pay the toll I hope it goes up for you morons.
Awsome video but they forgot to mention that the LED lights and fixtures cost about 3-4 times more money that standard or in this case (mercury vapor lights and fixtures).
So sadly not everyone can afford to go green (LED). Especially cheap landlords.
NICE!! Make you proud to be A BTM!!! HA HA still wont get me up there.
Great video guys. Just one of many jobs that maintenance does that can save the MTA money at the same time securing our jobs. Im sure if we crunch the numbers, our crews do it for a lot less than outside contractors. NO MORE OUTSOURCING. Lets keep our jobs in house and everyone comes out a winner.
If those LEDs are Chinese, you will be replacing them as often as the mercs. Maybe more. And at increased costs. Plus, they pop easily from lightning static discharges. I’m back to using bulbs on my radio tower.
K4NBC, not sure why you have problems with LED tower lights. You have to stop purchasing them from Harbor Freight. 4-Times Square and Empire State Building among other sites in the area are sucessfully using LED beacon and obstruction lights for a few years now. The mentioned sites have taken direct hits multiple times lately and have not had any issues with LED’s being damaged.
To “K4NBC” : please note these LED fixtures are manufactured in the USA by the #1 leader in manufacturing LED lighting solutions: LSI Industries Inc. You can’t just compare the acquisition cost.Yes LED costs more. But you need to calculate the cost of purchase, versus the total cost of operation and maintenance. In most cases LED fixtures use 50-75% less energy, and pay for itself within 2 to 3 yrs. It’s become a no-brainer. As long as you use/purchsae quality product from a reputable co.
Maintenance is a huge cost in lighting. Mercury vapor bulbs burn out within less than 2 years. LED’s will last approx 7 years without ever touching them. Think about that. The cost alone of the 3.5 bulbs that you will need to use in the same timeframe will bridge the gap in $ almost in itself and add to that the saved employee hours in maintenance. Mercury vapor bulbs must be recycled within specific guidelines = extra expense.
Cheap Landlords will even want to go LED, once someone explains to them the return on their investment. 50-75% savings in electrical costs alone, and the lower costs of maintenance will get them to listen. Usually most lighting solutions pay themselves back in less than 3 years. Making it a great way for cheap landlords to save alot of money in the long run…which is what every landlord wants…So tell those cheap landlords to give LSI a call. They’ll show them how they can save money!
@Hochfrequenzanlagen How did you know I was getting them from Harbor Freight?? Who ratted me out? The package says ” Most bright light, big quality, long time last , give you Number 1 happiness”. How did I go wrong? I had a plasma ball in the equipment shelter 4 feet from my face during a “blue arc” hit. Saw green for hours after. Took out a lot of equipment. Some of which was just out of the box. My tower is downtown in “THE lightning capitol of the world”
