is the energy star sticker on tvs important?


there is this lcd tv that i like but its not energy star qualified. is there much of a difference compared to tvs that are. if so how much? is it like 2 dollars a month more on your bill or something like that? (it is 180w btw)

    I am fairly certain that is when it is on. Standing idle it should be 1 or 2 watts. Now if they are stating that the TV is 180 watts on or off, I think you can see how that could make a difference. Not to insult your intelligence not to make light of your question, but I think the goal is to educate the public to make a better informed decision when making a purchase. Even when we are counting our pennies.

    Energy Star certification means the TV is more efficient, however, a TV uses such a small amount, you probably won’t be able to see the difference in your electric bill. The exact amount is dependant on how much you use it and your actual electric costs. $2 a month or less would be my guess.
