I am at the point in my career where I am wanting to become LEED Certified, as well as taking the P.E. exam to become a registered Professional Engineer.
I have an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a focus on Engineering Technology. I now live in California (Just moved from Michigan), and do not know whether or not this state requires that applicants have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering. It varies from state to state, and some states do not require any school whatsoever, so long as you pass the exam. I do not know if this is the case in CA.
Also, I wanted to know the same about LEED certification or if anyone knows of any other certifications that might be beneficial for me, as I am a BIM (Building Information Modeling) Engineer, with a focus on Industrial, (MEP) and Commercial/Healthcare.
Thanks in advance for any information on this topic!
Yes you can. California does not have specific educational requirements. Your compentency is tested by examination. If you do have an accredited engineering degreee, it can count toward the experience requirement (for 4 years as I recall). Here’s an official FAQ from California:

The first exam is the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. California recently instituted a requirement to register with NCEES when applying. Here is information from them regarding the FE exam. Go up a level to get to their website:
I don’t see any information on the NCEES site that says you have to have a degree to take the FE exam if you will be applying for registration in the state of California.
Go to the link below to look at the FAQ for the state of California.

From the site, you must have a degree from any of the following programs to be able to take the FE exam:
-EAC/ABET-accredited engineering programs
-TAC/ABET-accredited engineering technology programs
-ASAC/ABET (formerly RAC/ABET)-accredited programs
-Non-EAC/ABET-accredited engineering programs
-Non-TAC/ABET-accredited engineering technology programs
-Non-ASAC/ABET-accredited related science programs
The only way of officially knowing if your degree applies is by contacting the board of PEs in CA.
