Heat pump = $4000.oo
Depending on the region to determine whether it needs to be deep wells or can be a loop system, and the size system needed, it could range from about $10,000 to maybe $20,000 for a large system.
They are expensive at first, but do pay for themselves in about 5 to 7 years. The only thing that needs replaced is the mechanical parts. The expensive loop/well system will last for decades.
When I first proposed installing them in 1980, everyone laughed at me. They all are wishing they would have listened to me.

The heat pump cost about the same as a regular heat pump. Just a little more. The big cost is the hole in the ground. That can cost you several thousand $$$ depending on the labor cost in your area.
