LEED certification earned by existing Fort Mumbai, India office building

Earns Trane “Energy Efficiency Leader Award”. The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has certified an existing Fort Mumbai corporate office building, Godrej Bhavan, as a high-performance green building that maximizes operational efficiencies while minimizing environmental impact. The upgraded facility, which is owned by Godrej, one of India’s largest industrial conglomerates, now offers a significantly reduced environmental impact as well as lower energy and operating costs. To mark this achievement, Venkatesh Valluri, chairman and president, Ingersoll Rand India, and Rajesh Sikka, business leader, Trane India, will present an “Energy Efficiency Leader Award” to Godrej executives. As part of a carefully managed project, Godrej executed a number of infrastructure improvements which are expected to reduce energy costs, improve cash flow and increase employee satisfaction. This ‘triple bottom line’ approach that demonstrates improvements to business, people and the environment are part of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building philosophy.
