Plastic pollution is a problem – but the solution starts with recycling everything and anything we can, including plastic bags. We scoped out the largest plastic bag recycling facility in the world to see how it’s done. Check out our tour of the Hilex Poly plant in North Vernon, Indiana. And recycle those bags!

you’re a geek
cute
True and true, and it kills me how much of it is used in packaging and when you look at it, it makes a plastic bag ban seem trivial. Hopefully it gets people thinking in the right direction though.
2 people just had to turn their screen’s upside down so they could like it again (ಠuಠ)
Im glad to see that this stuff actually gets recycled. I use cotton bags for shopping but still get a lot of plastic film just from toilet paper and vegetable bags and it’s nice to know that it gets recycled when I have taken it back to the stores and put it in their receptacle. I do believe a ban is necessary because only a small amount of plastic actually gets recycled and the oceans are filling up with the stuff on a scale unimaginable just search for plastic gyre and you’ll see what I mean.
This is a very important video for more people to see. Your plastic bags can be recycled, don’t throw them away!
funny seeing this video. i work for a another 3rd party recycling facility here in Indiana and we recycle for this company. Hilex HMW bags as seen in the video. interesting though, i did not know they had their own in house recycling. quite the process they use first chemical washing then shredding and mixing the post consumer material with scrap from the finished product. hey Earth911TV come to our plant next, look us up, Jadcore.
I live in Vancouver. I know where I should put those containers, paper and cans. but I am not sure there are places which receive plastic bags. before I stuff plastic container with those bags. I assume they will melt them down together. recently, I do not have any plastic containers so I got tons of plastic bags, covers or just some small pieces. I want to send them to the proper places. anyone knows?
hi, is it possible for you to add subtiles or captions for deaf viewers. It will be awesome for deaf students to watch this video and would greatly benefits them. LMK
It was said this plant is the worlds largest recycling facility of plastic bags, and or plastic films in general. Other than HDPE #2 grocery bags, what about LDPE #4, such as bread bags, baggies, shrink wrap, black trash bags? Is this plant open to the idea of patrons mailing in their plastic if their particular area doesn’t have an “existing” recycling program for a particular plastic? If so what consist of the mailing cost, the government should for regulating it. It’s inevitably unavoidable.
and you sir, are a faggot
i burn mine, along with all my other garbage
Hi there! I liked your video and featured it in my blog with the proper credits, I hope you don’t mind
Nice video. Clear and concise with great visuals.
Okay, relax, eat a candy bar or something, snuggle up to a teddy bear. It’s not that serious.
Funny how at the end of this video the plant owner drinks out of a plastic water bottle. So I guess he is really just a business man, not an environmentalist. By the way, way did take a bag of pellets home with you? Can you use it as something? I was trying to think of one but I couldn’t. Good video.
i agree! my girlfriend and i burn all of our trash! and the plastic bags burn quite hot helping to burn up everything around it. I wish that people would stop thinking that we as a society can harm this planet. we are but mere pimples on the face of this planet that was created divinely and is self sustaining. If even thinking for a second that we are a threat to this planet lemme just give a few examples…Pompeii, and the recent Tsunami in Japan.
Interesting Stuff. Visit our channel to see how water bottles get recycled.
greetings from mexico michoacan morelia I want to know more about these machines, dimensioning, and as installed capacity, I am developing a project for polyester fiber by recycling PET plastic, which machines can refer me to carry out this process, please answer, I hope can help me, my email is trejoperea_moy@hotmail.es

Such ignorance. Go travel the world and see what pollution in different areas of the world does, then get back to me.
