U.S. alone produce 3,000 tons of high-level waste each year from 104 reactors. Radio active waste lasts millions of years, and the problem of what to do with this waste has not been solved.

How many functioning power plants (not just nuclear or geothermal, etc.) are there on Earth?

I’ve been able to find out that we have more than 400 nuclear power plants but cannot seem to find a statistic on the total number of all power plants to compare it to.
